ACCESS - Achieving College Competency and Educational Success for Students The Black United Fund of Oregon established its scholarship fund in 1994. This fund awards scholarships to "at risk" students who are selected based on their academic standing, financial need, school participation, community service activity, oral and written performance. The ACCESS program enables individuals and organizations to establish a named scholarship fund or to contribute an unrestricted gift to the ACCESS Fund. Gifts of any size can be made to the general scholarship fund, but in general gift of $5000 or more is required to establish a named scholarship fund. The following named funds have been established: The Willamette University Partnership Scholarship: two $15,000 renewable scholarships awarded each year Portland State University Scholarship: two $2,000 scholarships awarded each year University of Portland Scholarship: three $12,000 renewable scholarships awarded each year Dr. Ethel Simon-McWilliams Scholarship: one $2,500 renewable scholarship awarded to an eligible 11th grade African-American students Linfield School of Nursing: one $7,000 annual tuition, renewable for a maximum of 3 years in pursuit of Nursing or Health Sciences degree. You must have a minimum of 34 transferable college credits to apply.
