Our Mission

To assist in the social and economic development of Oregon's low-income communities and to contribute to a broader understanding of ethnic and culturally diverse groups.
Where every person matters.
Where every dollar counts.

The Black United Fund of Oregon is a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing community needs and empowering individuals and future generations through the pursuit of education; both formal and experiential.

Community Grants

“Everything we do is to help stimulate growth in underserved communities, ensuring that all Oregonians are able to live out their full potential.” The Black United Fund of Oregon has understood the value and strength of our community since the organization’s inception in 1983. Now, more than 30 years later, we continue to provide services and resources to Oregon youth and families. The Black United Fund of Oregon’s Community Grants program provides funding support to nonprofits that work to close academic and soci-economic achievement gaps while encouraging a college bond culture among youth.

The Black United Fund provides direct services to youth who participate in our Mentor4Success program. The impact of the Mentor4Success program has significantly influenced our community. Over the last ten years the Black United Fund has awarded 14 or more scholarships each year, averaging $250,000 or more annually. Additionally the Black United Fund of Oregon helps, on average, 250 students with the completion of college essays to support their collage applications and annual scholarship awards.
